After the MS update required restart my attempt to start Workstation 14 Pro which has been flawless since I upgraded from 12 said:
VMware Workstation is not compatible with HYPER-V
I followed the instructions turning off things doing the reg edits gpedit.msc you provided with the error message.
I copied my VMs to a Win 8 system and installed Freeplayer 14 which worked.
I came back to my Win10 system and uninstalled VMware Workstation 14 throwing out all. It said it was successful.
I figured since I had the original install file and license I'd be able to restore at some point.
I attempted to install Freeplayer 14 which worked on the Win8 system and was told it could be installed with VMware Workstation running.
From the task manager I found some VM services still starting so I disabled them.
Still the Freeplayer complained of a running Workstation.
I then tried the original VMware workstation 14 installation which I used to upgrade when I installed switched to Win10.
It now says this installer does not support downgrades.
All this thanks to a MS update restart? I've got 3 client's with Win10 running VMware Workstation 14 who will be very upset they can't access their files.
I left a voice message yesterday afternoon which you promised to respond to within 24 hours. Time is running out and the way MS is managing Win 10 updates will likely result in serious consequences.
