Background
I have three old hosts running ESXi 5.1 U3. According to the compatibility guide, newer versions of ESXi are not supported on this hardware. Later in the year new hardware will be purchased and a current a ESXi version deployed. I'm running VCSA 6.0.
Requirement
I have an immediate need for some external storage. I would like to deploy an iSCSI device.
Issues
- The current VMware compatibility guide does not include ESXi 5.1 as it is no longer supported.
- I am unable to locate a VMware compatibility guide does include ESXi 5.1. I would like to use the latest one available.
- I located an old QNAP document online that shows their VMware supported devices from the ESXi 5.1 era but most of those models are no longer available.
Questions
- Can you provide a link for issue #2?
- iSCSI is a standard protocol. Are their any potential issues using a generic iSCSI device with ESXi 5.1 U3?
