Enabling Secure Boot on existing ESXi hosts?

$

I am running 6.7u2 vCenter and ESXi hosts.  have a HP G10 server and when I last updated the SPP(firmware) it came back and flagged secure boot not being enabled as a security problem.  VMWare seemed to pick up on that as well after that.

I have read that secure boot is support by VMWare since 6.5 so I was going to enable it as long as I do not have to reinstall my OS, etc.  Has anyone ever had any issues simply enabling secure boot on a disk(actually flash) that already has ESXi installed?

Boa tarde

O Esxi consegue se comnuinicar com o servidor de email nessa porta?

O relay do servidor de email está aberto para o ip do esxi?

O esxi não tem telnet, voce pode testar com esse comando: nc -z <ip servidor de email> 587

Hi Guys!

Recently I installed workstation  15.5.1 on windows server 2016. On the workstation I installed Cent OS with 16 GB and 2 CPUs. The entire set up is running on server AMD EPYC 7551 32-Core Processor.

Windows server is running at the normal pace, while the Cent OS is simply horrible.Even during its installation it took me nearly 16 hours. What could be wrong? VMware tools are already installed.

Any help would be  highly appreciated!

Issues installing Update Manager server on Windows vCenter server 6.0u2

Hi,

I'm using an Essentials license.  Here's what I've got:

(2) esxi 6.0u2 hosts

(1) Windows server 2016 running vCenter server.

I'm using the same ISO I used to install vCenter to try and install Update manager on the vCenter server.  During the installation it installed, SQL 2012 express, starts to install Update manager and at about half way through, it rolls back the changes and ends with a message, "The wizard was interrupted before VMware vSphere Update manager could be completely installed."

If I watch the status during the installation, I can see it first install Java, then install Jetty web server.  As soon as it starts to install "Virtual storage volume driver" it's interrupted and rolls back the install.

I've already rebooted and disabled the A/V.  Anyone know what's happening and how to get past this?

Thank you, folks.

Apparently it was ISO but CD was not mounted, even after restarting, it was still showing. I had to remove CD in order to get rid of the datastore appearing.

thank you, very much.

Downgrade 7.0 (trial) to 6.7

Hi guys,

Can I execute a downgrade from version 7.0 to 6.7 using cli, without I need reinstalling ESXI locally?

I have a Vcenter license on 6.X version and need integrating this new Host.

I tried command below but I saw a error:

[-----:~]  esxcli software profile update --depot /xxxx/xxxx/xxxx/ESXI-version-offline-bundle/ESXi670-201912001.zip --profile=ESXi-6.7.0-20191201001s-standard --allow-downgrades

[DowngradeError]

Downgrade ESXi from version 7.0 to 6.7 is not supported.

Please refer to the log file for more details.

Best Regards.

André

So I just rebooted and tried again.  Same issue and this is the Event viewer message that comes up at the same time the installer fails.  I'm pretty sure this is the issue:

Event 7000, Service Control Manager

The Vstor2 Update Manager Virtual Storage Driver service failed to start due to the following error:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

You do know that 6.0 is no longer supported?

And that running vCenter Server on Windows and Update Manager on Windows is the past?

I suspect you will be reinstalling ESXi 6.7 in order to “downgrade”.

no I didn't know that.  I haven't really used VMware in about 10 years.  Should I use the vCenter server appliance?

Ubuntu 18.04 / gdm3 no SSO, Text input Field Does Not Update

My configuration boils down to Linux VMs running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with Horizon Agent 7.12.0 being viewed remotely by the Horizon Client 5.4.2.

When the Horizon Client connects, the gdm3 login screen displays, but only updates when the mouse is used to open a menu. Simply typing in to the username / password field causes no obvious graphical changes. But, if you right-click on the input field or click on the power drop-down menu, the username / password field reflects the text that was typed. If the accessibility menu is used to enable 'zoom', the field updates as expected. So, at least there is a work-a-round.

Everything else about the sessions are nominal. Once a user has logged in and started either a Gnome 3 or a MATE session, everything behaves and redraws as expected. This only impacts the gdm3 login screen.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Yes, that would be correct behavior.

AutoDeploy in VSphere 7.0

I've got DHCP configured and working

I've got TFTP server configured and working.

I've got images and Deploy rules configured (I believe correctly. They match similar rules i used in 6.5 and 6.7 autodeploy instances

When a host PXE boots it gives this error

Screen Shot 2020-05-28 at 3.31.14 PM.png

I've double checked everything and the only thought I have is that there is a firewall config that needs to be in place. The DHCP and TFTP server are on the same box and it is on the same vlan as VCSA appliance so network firewalls are not in play.

I didn't see a firewall step in the autodeploy info on the website but I'm not saying I didn't miss it.

Any thoughts from someone successfully AutoDeploying using 7.0?

Kevin
